Many of our customers take Kindled alongside levothyroxine. Kindled is a dietary supplement, not a replacement for thyroid medication. Keep taking your medication exactly as prescribed, take Kindled later with breakfast, and check with your doctor before you start, especially about the iodine and ashwagandha in the formula.
Kindled works alongside your medication, not instead of it
Levothyroxine replaces thyroid hormone your body isn’t making enough of. Kindled doesn’t contain thyroid hormone and isn’t made to replace it. It brings together nutrients your thyroid uses every day, like selenium, zinc and iodine.
Never stop, lower or change your thyroid medication on your own. Your doctor manages your dose.
How to time Kindled with levothyroxine
Levothyroxine is usually taken on an empty stomach with water, 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast. Kindled is taken with breakfast, so the two fit together easily. A typical morning looks like this:
- Take your thyroid pill
First thing in the morning, with a glass of water, as prescribed.
- Wait before you eat
Give it the time your prescription label or doctor recommends.
- Breakfast, with Kindled
Take one full dropper of Kindled under your tongue with breakfast.
Your doctor or pharmacist may give you different timing for your medication. Follow theirs.
What to mention to your doctor
Bring the label, or this list, to your next appointment. The full Supplement Facts are here too.
- Iodine: 500 mcg declared (333% DV), as potassium iodide, plus bladderwrack, a sea vegetable, in the botanical blend
- Ashwagandha: 300 mg KSM-66®, an adaptogen that may affect thyroid levels in some people
- Vitamin D3: 125 mcg (5,000 IU), 625% DV
- Selenium (200 mcg) and zinc (3 mg)
What isn’t in Kindled
No iron is declared on the Kindled Supplement Facts panel. That’s relevant because iron supplements can interfere with how levothyroxine is absorbed.
No biotin is declared either. Biotin can interfere with some thyroid blood tests, which is why doctors often ask you to pause it before labs.
Questions to ask your doctor
- Is the iodine in Kindled right for me, especially if I have Hashimoto’s?
- Is ashwagandha okay with my medication and dose?
- What timing works best with my thyroid medication?
- Should we recheck my thyroid labs after I start a new supplement?
What about Synthroid, Tirosint, Armour Thyroid or Cytomel?
The same approach applies to every thyroid medication, including Synthroid, Levoxyl, Unithroid, Tirosint, Armour Thyroid, NP Thyroid and Cytomel (liothyronine): keep your prescription exactly as it is, and ask your doctor about timing and the ingredients above before you add Kindled.
